Blog 2 - My last concert was my last premiere
in january
of this year I went to my last concert. It was the “contemporary music
festival of the university of chile”. There was the premiere of my work for
piano and voice: 7 temples (seven moods). Other composers also presented, some
with a lot of experience, other students. My work was the first to present and
lasted 25 minutes. It was a very long time! But the
twenty minutes almost hardly felt. Each musical peace of this work evoked
different moods. For example, the first peace evoked expectation, the second
piece fear and tension, the third piece homesickness, the fourth piece irony,
the fifth piece temperance, the sixth piece anxiety and the last piece rage. Afterwards
some commented their appreciations. They told me that my work made a great
impression on them and they felt identified with “the moods” that were
suggested. It was really an existential experience to all of them. I remember
the last compass where Carolina (soprano singer) screamed euphorically with all
her soul. That last moment was very shocking.
